Between pitching the Apple merchandising team in Cupertino and traveling to Minneapolis to meet with Target and Best Buy, HAX Growth VI teams have kept plenty busy over the past two weeks! Upon arriving in San Francisco for HAX’s Growth program, the teams immediately started prepping for pitching these key customers. We require two forms of “pitches” to be perfected: the infamous 2-minute elevator pitch, and the full customer sales presentation (with slides!) covering everything about the company and product.
As it turns out, 6 weeks of non-stop practice pays off when you finally get to pitch key customers. Our trip to Apple was an unprecedented opportunity for our startups to pitch the entire Apple merchandising team at Apple HQ: we brought 13 startups on the trip (our current batch + 3 alumni teams- Lief, Prynt and Swapbots). We hope to make this a regular trip!
The following week, the teams met with key category buyers at Target’s corporate offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota and had the opportunity to meet with buyers from Best Buy at the HAX Demo Event we always host in Minneapolis with our friends at The Stable.
After 6 weeks of constant preparation, the teams nailed their pitches and have begun building relationships with key retail partners. Equipped with feedback from buyers, the startups are now perfectly positioned for success. We can’t wait to watch the purchase orders roll in!
