The Most Active Investor in Hardware
HAX is a two-stage program that starts in Shenzhen and finishes in San Francisco
Companies that are accepted into the program will spend four to eight months in Shenzhen co-developing technology, followed by two to three months in San Francisco, where we will work with you on business development, fundraising, and growth.
STAGE 1 – SHENZHEN
The Shenzhen program has a large and experienced technical, design and marketing team that will help you get from proof-of-principal state to launch-ready execution.
Utilizing our expertise and the resources of the Shenzhen ecosystem, the companies we invest in have the resources to move at lightning speed – prototyping rapidly with manufacture-grade suppliers and components.
Our team will assist with: technical sourcing, supply chain management, structural engineering, firmware, industrial design, mechanical design, graphic design, branding, film making, and marketing execution.
Throughout the program, there will be regular mentorship on market-entry strategy, fundraising, product strategy, and connections to portfolio companies. Regular community events will also help founders from past and present cohorts understand common challenges, as well as share contacts and experience.
The duration of the program is decided upon jointly by HAX management and the startup founding team. Once your team is ready, you’ll be able to access the SF side of the program.
STAGE 2 – SAN FRANCISCO
The San Francisco program is for companies that have successfully built a scalable prototype in Shenzhen, and are ready to take it to market.
This stage emphasizes introductions to corporates, investors, partners, and press. It also focuses on helping teams secure their first round of funding, as well as gain first-revenue and partnership traction.
Over the course of three months, startups will be taken through a curriculum of sales, marketing, PR and fundraising. Our partnerships with world-leading organizations will also facilitate and provide support, coaching, and resources to accelerate growth of the company.
The proactive outreach does not stop there, as teams will be taken through a concentrated number of meetings with investors. Our goal: 100 meetings in 90 days – all done with the right level of focus.
Alumni and experts in the field will also be around to guide you through both the psychology and technical aspects of raising money. At the end of this journey, you should be able to fly on your own, but are always welcome to hang at our offices in Shenzhen or San Francisco.
