We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to lead physical prototyping, design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and manufacturing of our next product. This requires hands-on development with CNC machines, laser cutters, 3D printers, and other rapid prototyping equipment. As an early startup, tasks outside of the immediate job description may be required occasionally. We seek individuals who are enthusiastic to take on new responsibilities as we continue to grow. This person must be based in or willing to re-locate to Chicago, IL to be considered.
This is a paid position, $80k-95k annual depending on experience, equity available.
Leading the rapid prototyping process
Giving mechanical feedback to initial design ideas
Rapid prototyping including 3D printing and CNC
Guiding third-party manufacturing
Sourcing applicable raw materials
Designing tests to obtain feedback from customers, determine failure modes, or to determine manufacturability
Mechanical (CAD) and industrial design
Experience with injection molding, 3D printing, extrusion, and sheet metal fabrication
General manufacturing expertise
Experience designing waterproof electronics
History of bringing products through mass production
Ability to receive and act on feedback from customers and co-workers
Familiarity with RF (Radio Frequency) characteristics and antenna integration
Thermal simulation experience
Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis
Ability to conduct empathetic design with customers
Experience designing consumer electronics or networking equipment
