About the Role During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, a group of leading experts came together to launch the Pandemic Response Lab (PRL) which was announced by NYC’s Mayor De Blasio in August 2020. As New York City reopens, we recognize the need for fast, accurate and widespread testing. Based in the Alexandria Center for Life Science in Manhattan, PRL is a state of the art high complexity lab dedicated to processing COVID-19 tests with results within 24-48 hours. Responsibilities: Manufacturing/testing line efficiency gains Process Improvement / 5S / Lean champion Lab layout, Station layout & floor plan owner Labor analysis and optimization Work area improvements (for example custom benches/shelves for accessioners) Demonstrated ability to provide high levels of ownership 25% travel required Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Minimum of 7 years experience in an industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering position. Proven industrial and software skills, having directly scaled and improved yield of manufacturing lines for complex products. Proven experience developing lean and effective test reports and documentation structure. Strong management and/or project management experience. Able to handle a large variety of projects simultaneously while maintaining highest priority items on track. Strong experience with product development life cycles, having brought dozens of new features or products from initial concept to mass manufacturing assembly. Strong experience with DFMA, ECN processes, test reports, and manufacturing/quality reports.
