About The Role
We are in need of a senior mechanical engineering specialist to engage in development of an exciting new product, as well as support production of the current generation of self-driving floor scrubbers. The ideal candidate has been involved in all stages of product development and has shipped quality products. You have worked with industrial and automation systems and enjoy designing and building a product with quality, manufacturability and reliability. Our mechanical team is expanding and we are looking for someone who can integrate quickly and take ownership of different pieces of manufacturing and product development.
How You Will Make a Difference
Concept and create new designs for new and existing products, provide revisions to engineering drawings, models and documentation, and correct problems based on field and manufacturing feedback.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design intent is well communicated and constructive feedback is gathered.
Identify product/service innovations and help develop them into solutions that meet technical requirements.
Test proof of concepts and prototypes to provide input into the design cycle and de-risk the proposed solutions.
Initiate, encourage and participate in peer reviews of drawings and designs.
Apply engineering practices and judgment to make informed decisions while balancing schedule, budget, and best interest of the project.
Release product updates and provide manufacturing engineering support.
Assist in producing production documentation and control.
Key Skills And Experience
B.Sc. or college diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
5+ years Design experience, preferably in product development, robotics, and/or automation, with the ability create, revise, and maintain design documentation based on internal and external customer requirements.
Expert level knowledge of weldments, sheet metal, machined and molded components, assemblies and drawings.
5+ years of creating drawings and applying datums, tolerances, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis for manufacturing and assembly.
Hands-on experience with building and repairing complex mechanical assemblies.
Hands-on experience with building and troubleshooting electrical systems.
5+ years experience with parametric 3D CAD packages such as Solidworks or Onshape.
Nice to Have
Experienced in manufacturing processes, material selection and design for manufacturability, especially sheet metal, roto-molding, vacuum forming and other plastics processes.
Experience designing industrial machines.
