Cephia Secures $4M Seed Funding to Revolutionize Multimodal Sensing with Metasurface Technology
Kira Colburn

Excited to announce that Cephia, an SOSV portfolio company building products using advanced AI computational imaging technologies and silicon sensors made from advanced metamaterials, launched with several pilot customers and $4 million in seed venture capital funding.

Cephia sits at the intersection of machine vision, robotics, and edge AI, addressing a rapidly expanding “physical AGI” market across manufacturing, mobility, robotics, and other industrial verticals. Built on a decade of research originating at Princeton University, Cephia’s platform pairs computational imaging software with silicon metamaterials, engineered structures that bend and manipulate light in unconventional ways.

The result: superhuman vision sensors inspired by biological systems that can detect signals traditional sensors (and the human eye) simply cannot. These capabilities unlock new sensing functions that are difficult or impossible to achieve with today’s conventional optics.
