Butlr Technologies (HAX 2020) announced today a $7.9 million seed round to apply their spatial intelligence technology beyond commercial real estate and retail, to monitor falls and other movements for seniors aging in place.
The round was led by Hyperplane, with Founder Collective, Union Labs, 500 Startups, SOSV, E14 Fund, Tectonic Ventures, Scott Belsky, Chad Laurans and Sunny Vu participating.
Butlr’s technology extrapolates thermal data to capture information regarding the position and location of humans in a space. The sensors last over two years on a single battery, fit in the palm of your hand, and can be easily installed on any wall or ceiling. This privacy-conscience approach to spatial intelligence has wide applications in commercial real estate, smart homes, and beyond. Co-founders Honghao Deng and Jiani Zeng joined HAX after spinning the company out of the MIT Media Lab in 2019.
